The family of Chief JS Olawoyin has announced a revised schedule for his final burial rites of late Chief Banji Olawoyin, the Bobajiro of Offa.
The updated programme of events begins on Sunday, August 10, 2025, with a Commendation Service at The African Church Cathedral Bethel, located at Plot 82, Cadastral Zone B1, Apo Durumi II, Abuja (by GTBank, Guru D1 Street). The service is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
The lying-in-state will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his residence along Ipee Road, Offa, starting at 12:00 noon, giving family members, friends, and admirers the opportunity to pay their last respects.
A Service of Songs will follow the same day at 3:00 p.m. at the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) Hall, Offa, Kwara State.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2025, at The African Church, Iyeru Okin Parish, located along Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Offa. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by interment at his residence along Ipee Road.
According to Barrister Olusegun Olawoyin, Chief Akinrogun of Offa, the date change became necessary due to a clash with a pre-scheduled community engagement that coincided with the previously announced dates.
The family expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding, emphasizing that the new dates have been carefully considered to accommodate all activities and allow for a befitting farewell.
Late Chief Banji Olawoyin, a respected community figure, philanthropist, and second-generation traditional titleholder, was the son of the late Chief J.S. Olawoyin, the first Asiwaju of Offa.
He is fondly remembered for his lifelong dedication to human development, cultural preservation, and service to his people.
