The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of the mutilated body of 16-year-old Lawal Wahab along the Old Express Road, Igbile-Ijebu.
Wahab, who had been declared missing by his father, Mr Lawal Olumide, was residing with his grandmother before his disappearance. According to police authorities, his remains were recovered in a decomposed state, with his head, wrists, heart, and genitals removed in what is believed to be a ritual killing.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, in a statement issued on Saturday, disclosed that operatives from the Omu-Ijebu Division, acting on credible intelligence, have arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Salawu Omikansola, along with one Serefusi Agemo and others linked to the gruesome murder.
“Tragically, on 23rd July 2025, the decomposed body of the victim was discovered. A preliminary examination revealed the removal of vital body parts, pointing to possible ritualistic motives. One of the suspects made a voluntary confession, which has been documented on video,” Odutola stated.
She further confirmed that the case, along with key exhibits, is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for a more detailed probe. Meanwhile, Wahab’s remains have been released to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
