I commiserate with the family of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona GCON over the demise of Kabiyesi the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. Kabiyesi was a highly respected personage within the traditional institution. The announcement of his death on 13th July 2025 was not just a loss for the people of Ijebuland, the entire Ogun State, but indeed a collective loss for the Yoruba race and the country at large.
He was one of the longest royal fathers, whose reign lasted over six and half decades. He epitomized dignity in royalty and institutional stability of kingship reign. He was indeed a symbol of our collective pride as a true reflection and custodian of our cultural heritage. I joined to honour his remarkable contributions and legacy, particularly the global recognition and acceptance he gave Ojude Oba Annual Festival. I pray that God grants his immediate family, the people of Ijebuland, and the people and government of Ogun State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May his soul find eternal rest.
