The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogbomoso Zone, has congratulated one of its own, Comrade Segun Damilola Olaniyan, popularly known as Segun Bejo, on his recent honour by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2025 Presidential NYSC Honours Award ceremony held in Abuja.
Segun, who hails from Masifa in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State, was among the 210 outstanding ex-corps members recognized by the Federal Government for their exceptional service during the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme between 2020 and 2023.
In a statement jointly signed by the Zonal Chairman, Comrade Oyewusi Mathew, and the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Comrade Odetunde Stephen Blessing, the youth council described the honour as a “well-deserved national recognition” for a young man whose service year was marked by innovation, leadership, and a deep commitment to community development.
“This national honour is a glowing testament to your trailblazing service, not only during your NYSC year in Edo State but also throughout your leadership journey in various youth, student, and community development platforms,” the statement read.
The council noted that Segun’s legacy of impact—from renovating health centres and installing solar-powered streetlights, to organizing educational outreach programmes and empowering grassroots communities—represents the finest values of the NYCN and the spirit of Ogbomoso youth who believe in rising by lifting others.
“As a proud son of Masifa and a consistent ambassador of Ogbomoso youth, this recognition by the Presidency is not just a personal milestone but a collective pride for all of us,” the group added.
Segun Bejo, an alumnus of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Summit University Offa, and Kwara State Polytechnic, has long been known in youth and student circles for his activism, creativity, and unwavering devotion to service. He is the founder of Oasis Foundation – Bejo Legacy, and a recipient of multiple commendations for his grassroots impact.
The NYCN Ogbomoso Zone concluded its message with best wishes for Segun’s future, expressing confidence that the honour will spur him to greater heights in national development and youth leadership.
“You have once again shown that excellence, commitment, and selfless service are pathways to greatness. The entire NYCN Ogbomoso Zone celebrates you and wishes you greater accomplishments,” the statement added.
President Tinubu had earlier directed that all 200 awardees of the 2025 Presidential NYSC Honours Award be given automatic employment, ₦250,000 cash, and postgraduate scholarships for their exceptional performance during national service.
