Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is set to formally commission Enugu Air, a new commercial airline established by the Enugu State Government, on Monday, 7th July 2025.
The official launch will take place at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, according to a statement released by the airline’s management.
Enugu Air is commencing operations with a fleet of three Embraer jets—comprising models from the E170 and E190 series—renowned for their fuel efficiency, passenger comfort, and optimal performance on short-to-medium-haul routes.
Speaking on the development, the Enugu State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Obi Ozor, described the initiative as a cornerstone of Governor Peter Mbah’s broader agenda to position Enugu as a strategic aviation hub in Nigeria.
“With a solid foundation rooted in innovation and sustainability, Enugu Air is poised to redefine regional air travel, foster economic growth, and enhance the state’s visibility nationally and internationally,” Dr Ozor stated.
The airline will commence commercial flights on the Abuja and Lagos routes, with expansion plans underway to include Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, Kano, and other major Nigerian cities shortly
