The Kaduna State Government has firmly denied reports suggesting plans to sell the historic Yusuf Dantsoho Primary School in Kaduna North Local Government Area, labelling the claims as baseless and misleading.
Addressing a press conference, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, alongside the Executive Chairman of Kaduna North LGA, Hon. Mohammed Gambo Zion, described the circulating allegations as “false, unfounded, and deliberately intended to misinform the public.”
Mamman Lagos asserted unequivocally that the school remains a vital public asset, and no consideration has been given—either now or in the past—to selling, demolishing, or compromising its status.
“Yusuf Dantsoho Primary School is a historical institution that holds immense value to the state. The public should disregard any claim suggesting it has been sold. Anyone alleging ownership is challenged to present valid documentation,” he declared.
He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding public institutions and ensuring universal access to quality education. Echoing this stance, Hon. Zion stated that there are no records within the local government suggesting any transfer or sale of the school under either the current or previous administration.
The government’s swift intervention has been met with widespread approval. Parents, staff, and local residents have applauded the prompt response, with many taking to social media to commend the administration for its transparency and decisive communication.
The Headmaster and staff of Yusuf Dantsoho Primary School also expressed appreciation, noting that the administration’s support has reinforced confidence in the state’s commitment to public education.
“This administration has demonstrated through various educational reforms that it prioritises learning environments, teacher support, and equitable access to education,” the school’s management said.
Hon. Mamman Lagos concluded by reiterating Governor Uba Sani’s administration’s pledge to accountability and public welfare.
“We will continue to protect public infrastructure for the collective benefit of our citizens. Our message is clear: Kaduna’s public institutions are not for sale, and this government remains firmly committed to their preservation and enhancement.”
