Former Osun State Governor and newly appointed Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has alleged that his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) was a result of internal betrayal and political witch-hunting.
Addressing supporters in Osogbo on Sunday at a homecoming rally following his ADC appointment, Aregbesola declared that his removal from the APC was both unjust and politically orchestrated.
“The week we formed the Omoluabi group, we were dragged to court and barred from using the name of a party I helped to build with my sweat. Eventually, we were expelled. I never left the APC — the party left me,” he stated pointedly.
Aregbesola maintained that his elevation within the ADC is proof of his enduring political relevance, adding, “Those who understand my worth gave me this position. They may rant and rave — it means nothing to us. They’ve not seen anything yet.”
He further emphasised that the ADC’s immediate priority is securing victory in the 2026 Osun governorship election, assuring that mobilisation efforts are already in motion.
He charged party faithful not to be swayed by the turmoil within rival parties, but to stay focused on the ADC’s expansion drive across Osun State.
“This is our moment in Osun. Let no one intimidate you. They can continue their theatrics — our duty is to make sure the ADC’s presence is felt in every corner of the state. By the next election, the people will know those in power today have outlived their usefulness,” he declared.
Reflecting on his tenure as governor, Aregbesola said he remains proud of his administration’s legacy, citing landmark projects in education, infrastructure, and the acclaimed school feeding programme.
