Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has died in London.

The news of his passing was confirmed on Sunday via an official statement released by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu.

The brief but solemn statement, obtained by News Bulletin, reads:

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

The family of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, announces with deep sorrow his passing this afternoon at a medical clinic in London.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, left an indelible mark on the nation’s political and military landscape.
