Thousands of residents in Igbope, Kishi, and adjoining communities in Oyo State have been left stranded following the collapse of a major bridge linking the areas.
The affected bridge connects Igbope in Oorelope Local Government Area with Kishi in Irepo Local Government Area, both situated in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone.
According to information obtained by News Bulletin Nigeria, the collapse was triggered by a heavy downpour between Monday night and Tuesday morning, which resulted in severe flooding that swept the structure away.
The bridge, a critical infrastructure supporting transportation, commerce, and agriculture in the region, remains impassable as of Wednesday. Its collapse has brought socio-economic activities in the area to a standstill, leaving residents and businesses in disarray.
Local sources confirmed that no remedial measures had been initiated at the time of filing this report.
