The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
In a statement issued by the union, FIBSU described the late monarch as a father to all, a custodian of Ibadan’s cultural heritage, and a symbol of unity whose short but impactful reign would be remembered with reverence.
“The demise of Oba Olakulehin is a monumental loss to Ibadanland and the entire Yoruba nation. His wisdom, dignity, and unwavering commitment to the progress of our people will forever be etched in history,” the statement read.
FIBSU extended its heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Government, and the entire sons and daughters of Ibadanland, praying for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and fortitude for the people to bear the irreparable loss.
“May Kabiyesi’s legacy continue to inspire generations of Ibadan youths to uphold honour, unity, and cultural pride,” the union concluded.
