The news of the passing of Chief Banji Olawoyin, the Bobajiro of Offa, has left me deeply heartbroken. It is a colossal loss, not only to the esteemed Olawoyin family, but to the entire Offa community and Nigeria as a whole.
Chief Banji Olawoyin was a double Chief, a man whose life reflected the noblest values of our culture, community, and humanity. He was a philanthropist per excellence, known for his cheerful spirit, humane heart, and unwavering dedication to the upliftment of others.
His love for humanity and community development was not just spoken; it was lived, seen, and felt across generations.
Chief Banji was a man of many parts; respected elder, selfless servant, passionate advocate for progress, and a proud custodian of Offa’s rich heritage.
He carried the weight of his father’s legacy, the legendary Chief J.S. Olawoyin, the first Asiwaju of Offa, with dignity, humility, and grace. He walked tall among giants, yet always reached out with warmth to the smallest among us.
As Otun Akoni of Offa and Chairman of the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) Home Branch, I join the good people of Offa and well-wishers around the world in mourning the transition of this remarkable son of the soil.
His footprints remain etched on the sands of time, and his legacy of service will continue to inspire us all.
