Emir Of Gusau, Ibrahim Bello, dies At 71

The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Bello, has passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness.

The first-class monarch died on Friday in Abuja, a development confirmed by the spokesperson to Zamfara State Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

In a condolence message, Governor Dauda Lawal expressed profound grief over the demise of the royal father, describing him as a stabilising figure and a tireless advocate for peace and progress in the state.

“I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau. I have lost a confidant and a father whose wisdom guided me and other leaders in the state. May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah,” the governor stated.

Appointed in March 2015 as the 16th Emir of Gusau following the death of his father, Bello’s reign spanned over a decade. He was widely revered for his role in promoting inter-communal harmony and fostering cultural preservation across the emirate.

Details of funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the emirate council.
