The Executive Director of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Bilqis Jumoke Sanni felicitates Chief Ayotunde Abdulrahim Raji as he marks his 82nd birthday.
Baba Ayotunde Raji is the Otun Asiwaju of Offa, the first democratically elected Chairman of the then Oyun Local Government Area (now the present Oyun and Offa LGAs) in January 1988, Commissioner for Sports and Tourism in Kwara State between 2001 and 2003, and revered elder statesman.
In a goodwill message released on Friday, July 18, Sanni described Chief Raji as “a living legend whose life embodies discipline, dedication, and decades of selfless service to community and country.”
“Chief Raji is unarguably acknowledged for his groundbreaking role as the first democratically elected Chairman of the then Oyun Local Government Area in 1988. His administration pioneered several developmental projects, including Offa’s first amusement park, major road constructions, and commercial store projects that still serve the community today.
“Baba Ayo Raji’s legacy in public service and community development is unparalleled. He is a shining example of what leadership with integrity, foresight, and compassion can deliver. His enduring contributions to Offa and Kwara State continue to speak volumes.”
Sanni praised the octogenarian for remaining active in public discourse and mentoring the younger generation, describing him as “a voice of wisdom and a pillar in the Offa Council of Elders.”
“On behalf of the NCDC and as a proud daughter of Offa, I celebrate Chief Raji’s impactful journey at 82. May the Almighty continue to preserve him in good health and sound mind,” she added.
