Suspected bandits have abducted three individuals in Gbugbu community, located in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident occurred late Monday night between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m., NEWSBULLETIN has learnt.

Among the victims are two adults and a teenager. One of those abducted is reportedly a government official serving with the Kwara State Government.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Despite the deployment of security operatives to Edu Local Government Area, incidents of abduction have continued unabated. Local sources revealed that neighbouring communities, including Ndeji, have similarly witnessed such attacks, forcing several residents to abandon their homes in search of safety.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi noted that joint security operations involving the military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, local hunters, and vigilante groups are currently ongoing. The efforts are aimed at dislodging criminal elements not only in Edu LGA but also in identified hideouts in Ifelodun and Patigi local government areas.
