The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken another toll as the Senator representing Osun Central, Olubiyi Fadeyi, has formally resigned his membership of the party.
In a resignation letter dated 12 July 2025 and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke Ejigbo, Ila Orangun, Osun State, Fadeyi cited irreconcilable differences and a protracted factional crisis within the party.
“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the letter partly read.
Fadeyi further attributed his decision to “irreparable divisions, persistent court cases, and counter-litigation over the past three years,” which he said had fractured the party nationally. He noted that his decision followed consultations with his political associates, family, and supporters.
Confirming the authenticity of the letter in a message to our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday, Fadeyi reaffirmed his departure from the party.
This latest defection comes barely days after Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, also exited the PDP.
Fadahunsi, a two-term senator, confirmed his resignation on Saturday following the circulation of his resignation letter on social media.
In a terse response when contacted by News Bulletin Nigeria, Fadahunsi simply replied, “YES,” affirming the authenticity of the letter dated 12 June 2025 and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Obokun Local Government Area.
His letter read in part: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedevilled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.
“This decision comes after wide consultations with my political associates, family, and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”
The twin resignations underscore the growing discontent within the PDP ranks in Osun State and reflect the worsening internal crisis tearing the party apart at the national level.
