Barely 48 hours after the death of the Alaho of Aho-Igbada in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State has been thrown into mourning again following the passing of Oba Muhammed Jamiu Olanrewaju Adedamola Omikunle II, the Oludofian of Idofian in Ifelodun Local Government.

Oba Omikunle reportedly died on Thursday, June 10 morning around 10 a.m., after a brief illness.

The monarch’s passing comes on the heels of the death of Oba Jubril Abolaji Maranro, the Alaho of Aho-Igbada, whose demise was announced just two days earlier, plunging Oyun LGA into mourning.

Oba Omikunle II was given staff of office January 5, 2024 by the Kwara State Government. Oba Omikunle become king after the demise of the Oludofian of Idofian, Oba Subair Agboola Oyesoro II in July 2021, who ascended the throne in 1965.

As of the time of filing this report, sympathizers had begun trooping to the royal palace in Idofian to pay their respects and console the grieving royal family.
