Tinubu Signs Four Tax Reform Bills into Law

President Bola Tinubu has signed four landmark tax reform bills into law, marking what he described as the dawn of a bold new era in Nigeria’s economic governance.

The signing ceremony, held in the presence of key National Assembly leaders—including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas—underscored the administration’s commitment to fiscal transformation.

According to President Tinubu, the reforms are designed not only to streamline and modernise Nigeria’s tax system but also to introduce the first major pro-people tax cuts in a generation.

“These reforms are about more than simplification—they’re about fairness,” he said. “They will deliver real relief to low-income earners, small businesses, and families striving to get ahead.”

Now enacted into law, the four bills include:

Nigeria Tax Bill (Fair Taxation)

Nigeria Tax Administration Bill

Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill

Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill

The new framework aims to unify the country’s fragmented tax structure, eliminate redundant agencies, cut bureaucratic bottlenecks, restore investor confidence, and promote transparency and coordination across all levels of government.
