President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. According to the statement, Ahmed will oversee the coordination and implementation of the PCNGi, a flagship initiative aimed at mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal by promoting cleaner, cheaper, and more sustainable energy alternatives.
The Presidency emphasized that the initiative is a key component of the administration’s broader palliative measures intended to cushion the economic effects of subsidy reforms.
Ahmed, aged 45, holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Abuja (2005) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He further earned a master’s degree in International Relations, Communications, and Diplomacy from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, in 2008.
He previously served as the Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022.
