Teacher Murdered Hours After Eid Celebration In Niger State

 

A secondary school teacher, Mallam Mohammed Abubakar Tayi, was found dead in his home just a day after celebrating Eid with his family in Mokwa, Niger State.

 

The killing occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, at his residence along Abattoir Road in Mokwa town. According to local sources, unidentified attackers broke into his home, murdered him, and fled with his motorcycle.

 

“He was full of life yesterday, celebrating with his family and greeting neighbours. We woke up today to hear he’s been killed,” one resident said, recalling the teacher’s presence during the Eid festivities.

 

Mallam Mohammed was a respected figure in the community’s education sector. He taught at Government Day Secondary School in Kpege, later renamed Bokani Secondary School.

 

As of the time of this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement, and no suspects have been apprehended.
