Senate Screens Bilqis Jumoke Sanni as Executive Director for North Central Development Commission

The Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has successfully screened Bilqis Jumoke Sanni Alasonla (PS Rtd) for the position of Executive Director in the newly established commission created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The screening exercise, which also marked the inaugural meeting of the committee, was held at Meeting Room 107, First Floor, Senate New Building, National Assembly Complex, Asokoro, Abuja, earlier today, Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

The session was presided over by Senator Titus Tartenger Zam, PhD, who chairs the committee, with Senator Isah Jibrin serving as the Vice Chairman.

The atmosphere was cordial and businesslike as the committee commenced its maiden assignment of vetting President Tinubu’s nominees for the NCDC board.

In a prior communication dated June 17, 2025, the Committee Clerk, Tang’an Christopher Amos, had officially informed the nominees of the meeting and screening schedule. “I am directed by the Chairman to inform you that the maiden meeting of the Committee and screening of nominees of the North Central Development Commission is scheduled as follows: Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Meeting Room 107, First Floor, Senate New Building, National Assembly, Abuja,” the notification reads.

Bilqis Jumoke Sanni, a seasoned public administrator and retired Permanent Secretary from Kwara State, appeared before the committee to answer questions on her qualifications, administrative experience, and vision for the North Central Development Commission.

Her responses were described by sources as articulate, passionate, and reflective of a deep understanding of regional developmental needs.

Hajia Sanni’s nomination has been widely seen as a nod to her decades of service in public administration and her active involvement in grassroots development and political mobilization in Kwara State.

Her appointment has already drawn commendations from youth groups, political stakeholders, and community leaders across the state.

The North Central Development Commission was established to drive infrastructural renewal, social development, and economic empowerment across the North Central zone of Nigeria, and Hajia Sanni is expected to play a key role in advancing that mandate, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

With her screening now completed, the Senate is expected to confirm her appointment alongside other nominees in the coming days.
