Reno Omokri Denies Being Paid To Support Tinubu Administration

Prominent socio-political commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has refuted claims that his public support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu is financially motivated.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Wednesday, Omokri asserted that his alignment with the current government is rooted in patriotism and a genuine concern for Nigeria’s development—not personal gain.

Known for his outspoken criticism of opposition figures, particularly the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Omokri clarified that his advocacy stems from national interest rather than political patronage.

“I’ve been involved in national discourse long before 2023 without any financial incentive,” he said. “No one paid me then, and no one is paying me now. My motivation is driven by love for Nigeria, not any individual or administration.”

Addressing recent accusations of being on the payroll of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Omokri maintained that his support for Tinubu’s policies is based on their merit, not monetary inducement.

“I’m currently in Lagos, a city I do not reside in. I came here at my own expense to verify claims about the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway,” he explained. “I purchased my own flight ticket, assembled members of the media and the public, and even bought a drone with my own funds to conduct an independent assessment. I can confirm that 30 kilometers of the highway have indeed been completed.”

Omokri’s remarks come amid growing scrutiny over political affiliations and influence, as well as debates surrounding transparency and integrity in public advocacy.
