Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in the Tanke area of Ilorin.
The suspects reportedly invaded the residence of one Abdulrazak Dotunji in the Oke Odo area of Tanke, prompting residents to alert the police. Officers from a nearby division responded swiftly to the distress call.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that three suspects were apprehended at the scene, while others fled during the operation. A fourth suspect was later arrested during a stop-and-search operation at Sanrab Junction, near the University of Ilorin. At least one suspect remains at large.
Items recovered from the suspects include a Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used in the robbery, a knife, and two industrial oxygen cylinders, among other materials.
The four arrested suspects—identified as Danjuma Abubakar, Alkassim Abubakar, Mohammed Ibrahim, and Mohammed Awal—are currently in police custody.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said investigations are ongoing.
“Yes, the arrest has been made and investigations are in progress to track down the fleeing accomplice,” she stated.
