All roads will lead to the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) Hall on July 17, 2025, as one of Offa’s most revered elder statesmen and the Otun Asiwaju of Offaland, Chief Ayotunde Abdulrahim Raji, commemorates his 82nd birthday with the official launch of his autobiography.
The event promises to be a grand gathering of dignitaries, cultural custodians, political leaders, academics, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and beyond, who will come together to honour a man widely celebrated for his indelible contributions to the development of Offa and Kwara State at large.
Born in 1943, Chief Raji’s legacy spans over five decades of public service, community development, and exemplary leadership.
He made history as the first democratically elected Chairman of the then Oyun Local Government Area in 1988.
He’s a product of Ahmadu Bello University, HULT International Business School, and other prestigious institutions, Chief Raji is known for his forward-thinking governance, particularly in infrastructure, economic development, and education.
Under his chairmanship, Offa and surrounding communities witnessed landmark transformations, including the first set of tarred roads across major towns and the establishment of commercial centers and public amenities.
His efforts in the development of the Offa Amusement Park and the Offa Township Library, through Club 80, are often cited as testaments to his love for his people.
The birthday and book launch event will be graced by prominent personalities. His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I, the Olofa of Offa, will serve as the Royal Father of the Day. Senator Lola Ashiru, the Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, is expected as the Distinguished Guest of the Day.
The book, a personal account of Chief Raji’s life and service, will be reviewed by eminent scholar, Professor H.O.B. Oloyede, while Alhaji Abdulyekeen Mustapha Olowogada will serve as Chief Launcher. The Asiwaju of Offa, Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi, will chair the occasion.
