Kenyan President William Ruto has playfully warned of a potential “brain drain” from Kenya, following the marriages of both his daughters to Nigerian men.
Speaking at a recent wedding, in a video shared by Africa Facts Zone on X, Ruto jokingly addressed the growing trend of Kenyan women tying the knot with Nigerians. He teased that Kenyan men might be lagging in matters of romance.
“My daughter is married to a Nigerian, and now this one is married to a Nigerian too,” Ruto said, referring to his daughters. “And our guys are around… I don’t know, are you slow? We need to balance this scale, because at this rate, we’re going to have a brain drain from Kenya.”
Despite the jest, Ruto emphasized that such unions reflect the warm and growing relationship between Kenya and Nigeria. He encouraged both countries to continue strengthening their bond.
“I think there’s something special between Kenya and Nigeria—we should build on it,” he added.
