A 45-year-old vehicle spare part dealer, Alhaji Ganiyu Kehinde, has been apprehended in the Ipata-Oloje area of Ilorin for allegedly engaging in homosexual acts and the defilement of two teenage boys.
The Kwara Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed the arrest in a statement released by its Public Relations Officer, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael.
The incident came to light on April 14, 2025, after the parents of the alleged victims and concerned community members reported the suspect’s alleged repeated involvement in homosexual acts with two teenage boys, aged 15 and 19.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the NSCDC indicate that Kehinde allegedly enticed the victims with monetary gifts, giving them ₦500 on separate occasions after having sexual contact with them.
The victims reportedly disclosed that the suspect sexually assaulted them multiple times through anal intercourse, both at his residence and in an uncompleted building in the Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin.
The victims are currently undergoing medical and psychological assessments to aid their recovery and assist with the ongoing investigation.
While Alhaji Ganiyu Kehinde has denied all allegations of sexual penetration, he admitted to allowing the boys to sleep on his chest, describing the interaction as harmless.
The NSCDC stated that the suspect will be charged to court upon the completion of the ongoing investigation, by legal provisions.
Dr Umar JG Mohammed, the Kwara NSCDC Commandant, condemned the alleged acts, emphasizing that “Sexual abuse, particularly against minors, is a grievous offence and a direct attack on the moral fabric of our society.
We are determined to ensure that justice is served and that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are brought to book.”
He further reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of children, youth, and other vulnerable groups within society.
