The Kwara State Government has announced a partial closure of the Post Office–Challenge axis of Muritala Mohammed Way, beginning Sunday, June 15, 2025. The closure is to facilitate asphalt laying as part of the ongoing upgrade of the strategic road corridor.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, made this known in an official statement issued on Friday.
According to the commissioner, while the road will remain open to vehicular traffic, diversions will be put in place to regulate movement and ensure safety throughout the duration of the construction. He cautioned motorists to anticipate potential delays, urging them to exercise patience, drive cautiously, and comply with directives from traffic management officials on duty.
“This project is critical to enhancing the economic viability of the route and improving urban mobility,” Olododo stated. “It aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s broader urban renewal agenda aimed at revitalising infrastructure and promoting sustainable development across the state.”
He added that the government is committed to delivering the project promptly and with minimal disruption to the public.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s cooperation. Safety remains a top priority,” he said.
Residents and road users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and heed all traffic advisories to ensure smooth commuting during the construction period.
