Kwara CDHR Set to Hold Democracy Day Training, Commemoration on June 12

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Kwara State chapter, is set to host a special training session and commemoration in honour of Nigeria’s Democracy Day.

The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Rural Electricity Board (REB) Hall, located opposite the NEPA Office after Peak Motel Junction, Ita Alamu, Ilorin.

It will commence at 10:00 AM prompt.

According to a statement signed by Comrade Dr. Kunle Adebowale, the State Vice Chairman of the Kwara CDHR and Chairman of the Planning Committee, the event aims to deepen public understanding of democratic governance, civic responsibility, and human rights advocacy in Nigeria.

“The June 12 Democracy Day is a symbol of our collective struggle for justice, equity, and democratic freedom. This year’s commemoration will include a capacity-building training session tailored to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to sustain and defend our democratic values,” the statement read.

Stakeholders from civil society, human rights organizations, student bodies, and members of the general public are expected to attend.

The Kwara CDHR has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic ideals and defending the rights of all Nigerians through grassroots engagement and continuous public enlightenment.
