Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has issued a stern warning following reported U.S. military strikes on Iran’s nuclear installations, describing the actions as “outrageous” and threatening lasting repercussions.
The reaction came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces had launched successful operations targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
In a strongly worded statement posted on his official X handle on Sunday, Araghchi condemned the strikes and emphasized Iran’s right to defend itself.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” he declared. “Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people.”
Iran, which has been developing its nuclear program for decades, maintains that the initiative is strictly for peaceful energy generation. The U.S. and its allies, however, have long expressed concerns over the potential for nuclear weapons development.
The situation marks a significant escalation in already tense U.S.-Iran relations, with Tehran signalling its readiness to respond in kind.
