In a heartfelt tribute to one of Oyo State’s finest minds, Governor Seyi Makinde has officially renamed The Polytechnic, Ibadan after the late former governor, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.
The announcement was made on Thursday during an interdenominational commendation service held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.
Makinde, in his brief remarks, said, “The institution will now be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.”
Dr. Olunloyo, a mathematician and revered statesman, once served as the pioneer Rector of the institution. His death, just weeks shy of his 90th birthday, marked the end of an era in Oyo’s intellectual and political history.
