Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen Pledges Bursary Support for FIBSU Students at Inauguration Ceremony

The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) inaugurated its newly elected executive members on Wednesday at the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Oke Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo State. The event drew the attendance of notable dignitaries, including the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, and his cabinet.

In a keynote address that resonated deeply with the student community, Hon. Kamorudeen made a firm commitment to provide financial support for FIBSU students hailing from Lagelu. He pledged that within the next two months, eligible indigent students would begin receiving bursary payments.

“Education is not just a privilege; it is a right. As Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, I am committed to ensuring that no brilliant student is left behind due to financial challenges. We will begin bursary disbursement within the next two months,” — Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen.

His announcement was met with enthusiastic applause and widespread commendation, as many students saw the promise as a critical intervention in their academic journey.

In addition to the bursary pledge, Hon. Kamorudeen used the platform to urge student involvement in political and civic life. He stressed the importance of youth participation in governance, describing students as both current changemakers and future leaders.

“Don’t wait until after graduation to start shaping the future. Get involved, ask questions, take responsibility, and be the voice of the people. Politics is not a dirty game; it becomes dirty when good people stay away,” — he said.

The FIBSU leadership expressed appreciation for the chairman’s gesture, describing it as evidence of responsive and student-friendly governance. They also welcomed his assurance to support all future FIBSU events, calling it a step toward sustainable student-government collaboration.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by cultural performances, speeches, and a collective reaffirmation of FIBSU’s mission to champion the interests of Ibadan students. As expectations build around the bursary promise, there is growing optimism and a call for other local governments to emulate Lagelu’s proactive approach to grassroots educational support.
