Hon. Yayough Aondoakaa, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.
The incident took place on Friday at Wannune Market, causing panic among residents.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived on motorbikes, asked for Aondoakaa, and shot him at close range.
Locals disclosed that this was not the first attempt on his life. In a previous attack last year, his wife was killed, believed to have been targeted in his place.
As of the time of reporting, authorities have not issued an official statement, but investigations are underway.
