A fuel tanker exploded on Tuesday along the Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State, specifically between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo axis, resulting in a severe traffic gridlock and panic among road users.
As of the time of reporting, no casualties have been confirmed. However, the fire remains active as emergency responders continue efforts to contain the blaze.
The Oyo State Fire Service promptly mobilized resources to the scene. Confirming the development, the General Manager of the agency, Akinyemi Akinyinka, stated that firefighters were deployed immediately upon receiving the alert.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Akinyinka said, “Yes, a tanker is on fire near Zumuratul Hujaj, between Olorunsogo and Oremeji. Our response team is already on site working to manage the situation.”
