Explosions Hit Iran’s Tabriz Amid Rising Iran-Israel Tensions

Multiple explosions were reported early Tuesday in Tabriz, a north-western Iranian city housing a significant air force installation, as hostilities between Iran and Israel show signs of intensifying.

Local outlets, including Ham Mihan newspaper, reported that two powerful blasts occurred within a span of five minutes. Mehr news agency released footage capturing thick plumes of black smoke rising from the affected area.

Located over 600 kilometres from Tehran, Tabriz is regarded as a critical military zone and has recently been cited in regional reports as a potential target of Israeli airstrikes.

While Iranian authorities have yet to confirm the precise cause of the explosions, the incident coincides with escalating cross-border attacks and mounting military rhetoric.

In a related development, Commander of Iran’s Army Ground Forces, General Kioumars Heidari, stated during a national broadcast that Iranian forces launched overnight drone strikes on strategic positions in Tel Aviv and Haifa. He described the drones as being “equipped with precise targeting and destruction capabilities.”

However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) countered the claim, confirming that approximately 30 drones—allegedly launched from Iranian territory—were intercepted. The IDF reported no successful strikes on Israeli soil, noting that most UAVs were neutralised before entering Israeli airspace.
