Wale Adebayo, a personal aide to former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, has been arrested by operatives of the Osun State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun.
The development was made public by Honourable Oluwole Oke, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Obokun Federal Constituency. Oke, a former chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), confirmed the arrest in a statement posted to his official Facebook page.
“Ex-Governor Oyetola’s PA, Wale Adebayo, has been arrested by Osun Amotekun… Can this be true? What is his offence? Governor Ademola Adeleke must develop thick skin for criticism like PBAT. The young man is not a criminal,” the post read.
As of the time of filing this report, the reason behind Adebayo’s arrest remains unclear. Neither the Osun Amotekun Corps nor the state government has issued an official statement.
Efforts to reach the spokespersons for both the security outfit and the state government have been unsuccessful.
The arrest has sparked concern across political circles in the state, with many calling for transparency and adherence to due process.
