A member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, Mr. Wale Ade-Oba, has resigned from his appointment and issued a scathing critique of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration, accusing it of poor performance and mismanagement of state priorities.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Ade-Oba declared his withdrawal from the Oyebanji-led government, citing a “lack of meaningful development” across the state despite what he described as significant budgetary allocations. He also announced his alignment with the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Engr. Kayode Ojo, whom he praised as “a visionary leader with the capacity to transform Ekiti.”
According to Ade-Oba, the administration has failed to meet the expectations of party loyalists and the broader Ekiti electorate, particularly in areas such as local development, internal party cohesion, and leadership presence.
“The administration hasn’t delivered meaningful development to many local government areas, including mine, Irepodun/Ifelodun,” he stated.
“Our party members are being overlooked despite their dedication, while individuals from opposition parties are being rewarded with key appointments. This is demoralizing to our loyal base.”
He further criticized the governor’s frequent absence from the state, alleging that such conduct has undermined administrative efficiency.
“The governor is often out of the state, pursuing unclear agendas, and this absence is visibly reflected in the stagnation of governance and service delivery.”
Ade-Oba described his decision as one taken after “deep reflection,” adding that his defection was motivated by a desire to support a leadership model that prioritizes accountability and grassroots engagement.
“Engr. Kayode Ojo’s leadership style and vision for Ekiti resonate with me. I believe his administration would better serve the needs of the people and restore the values of inclusiveness and performance-driven governance.”
Concluding his statement, Ade-Oba called on stakeholders and party members to join him in pursuing what he described as “a more responsive and visionary administration for Ekiti State.”
