Democracy Day: NCDC Executive Director, Bilqis Jumoke Sanni Salutes Nigerians

As Nigeria marks the 25th anniversary of its return to democratic rule, the Executive Director (Nominee) of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Bilqis Jumoke Sanni, has congratulated Nigerians on the milestone, describing democracy as a continuous journey fueled by collective will, national sacrifice, and a shared commitment to progress.

In a statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate Democracy Day, Sanni lauded the resilience of ordinary Nigerians particularly youth, women, and rural communities whom she described as “the bedrock of unity and national development.”

“Democracy is not a destination; it is a continuous journey of collective effort, shared sacrifice, and national purpose,” Sanni said.

She also hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it presents a bold and transformative blueprint aimed at rebuilding trust, strengthening institutions, and creating equal opportunities across all sectors.

Sanni emphasized that the gains of democracy must be tangible, not theoretical.

“Democracy must be felt through good roads, jobs, quality education, affordable healthcare, and a secure environment. That’s the true dividend the people deserve,” she noted.

As a nominee leading the charge at the NCDC, Sanni reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to inclusive growth and regional development, particularly across the North Central zone.

She used the occasion to call on leaders at all levels to embrace fairness and equity, urging citizens to uphold the values of peace, participation, and patriotism.

“Let us unite behind a shared vision—of a Nigeria where no one is left behind. Where democracy is not only celebrated on June 12, but lived every day,” she added.

Sanni concluded by charging communities to build bridges across social, political, and ethnic divides, saying the future of the country lies in unity and collective action.
