Bilqis Jumoke Sanni Pays Tribute to Late Chief C.O. Adebayo, Recounts Personal Mentorship

The Executive Director of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Bilqis Jumoke Sanni (P.S Rtd), yesterday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, former Governor of Kwara State, at their residence in Abuja.

During the visit, Hajia Sanni described the late sage as not only a visionary statesman but also an exceptional academic who left an indelible mark on countless lives through his dedication to teaching and mentorship.

She fondly recalled how, as a lecturer and Head of the English Department at the Kwara College of Technology, late Baba Adebayo tutored and mentored her personally, particularly in the principles of pragmatic and vibrant communication skills anchored on moral values.

She said these lessons that have continued to guide her professional and personal life.

Hajia Sanni also highlighted the profound impact Baba Adebayo made on generations of leaders, noting the indelible memories he left with many captains of industry, top government officials, and other successful individuals whom he taught during his time as a lecturer at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1969 and later at Kwara College of Technology in 1973.

She offered sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late icon, whose contributions to education, governance, and national development will forever be remembered.
