The Benue State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension of six out of thirteen lawmakers previously barred from legislative duties.
The decision, it was gathered, was made after the affected legislators tendered formal appeals and letters of apology to the House leadership.
Those reinstated include Hon. Simon Gabo, Hon. Elias Audu, Hon. Solomon Gyila, Hon. William Ortyom, Hon. Blessed Onah, and Hon. Anyor Mato.
The six lawmakers were among a group suspended for distancing themselves from the impeachment of the Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Maurice Ikpambese — a move they described as unconstitutional and a breach of the doctrine of separation of powers and fair hearing.
At Tuesday’s plenary, the Assembly, through a voice vote, resolved that the remaining seven suspended members will remain barred until they also submit written appeals for reconsideration.
