Hon. Aminu Dan Hamidu, the newly elected Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area in Katsina State, has passed away less than two months after taking office.
Hon. Hamidu, who assumed the position in April 2025, died on Monday, June 9, 2025. While the official cause of his death has not been disclosed, unconfirmed reports suggest that he had been battling health issues for some time.
The tragic news was confirmed by Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, in a statement. In the message, Governor Radda expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the Chairman, describing him as “a loyal party man, a dedicated civil servant, and a grassroots politician who committed his life to public service with integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication.”
The statement continued, “Today, Katsina has lost one of its most devoted and selfless sons. Hon. Hamidu was a quiet achiever who upheld the values of integrity, transparency, and people-first leadership. His death is a profound loss, not only to Bakori but to the entire state.”
Hon. Hamidu was elected Chairman of Bakori in the February 2025 local government elections and officially took office in April. Despite the brevity of his tenure, his leadership was marked by a clear commitment to community development and purpose-driven action.
Governor Radda further noted that Hamidu’s service across various levels of government was characterized by diligence and a genuine concern for the welfare of the people. “He was never one to seek attention, preferring that his work speak for itself,” the governor remarked. “In his short time, he demonstrated what true leadership looks like when rooted in sincerity. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi.”
The governor also extended heartfelt condolences to the late Chairman’s family, the people of Bakori, and the members of the APC across Katsina State. “We will always remember him for his humility, dedication, and love for his people,” Governor Radda concluded.
