Suspected Herdsmen Kill Chief on Farmland In Ogun State

Armed assailants have attacked Gyenbwas village in the Langai District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, razing at least 96 residential structures and looting valuables.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers invaded the community in large numbers, carting away food supplies, mattresses, livestock, and other essential items during the violent raid.

Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler and Madugun Langai, Alhaji Yakubu Umar, disclosed that three persons have been confirmed dead. “Two individuals were killed on Monday, and we recovered another body on Tuesday,” he stated.

Alhaji Umar expressed deep concern over the scale of destruction, saying: “We have never witnessed such devastation. The attackers set fire to homes, destroyed farming tools and household items, and looted property worth millions of naira. We have always lived peacefully with our neighbours, which makes this attack even more shocking.”

While members of the affected community alleged the involvement of individuals from the Berom ethnic group, representatives of the group have strongly denied any role in the incident.

The traditional ruler has called on authorities at both the local and state levels to launch an immediate investigation and provide humanitarian assistance to displaced residents. “There is an urgent need for government intervention,” Umar appealed, urging swift action to support the victims and restore peace to the area.
