Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection took place on Friday in Uyo, the state capital, days after Eno hinted at his decision to realign politically.

During a recent town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi, the governor declared that “it is time to move,” signaling his intention to align Akwa Ibom with the APC-led federal government. He noted that the move followed wide-ranging consultations.

A high-powered delegation of APC governors visited Akwa Ibom to formally receive Eno into the party. Those present included Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as well as Governors Bassey Otu (Cross River), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun).

Also in attendance were Governors Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi).
