The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of 45-year-old Ahmed Aliyu, who was fatally stabbed by unidentified attackers on Sunday in the Hammadu Kafi area of Akko Local Government Area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed the incident in a statement issued on Monday.
According to Abdullahi, the police received a report around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday from a relative of the victim, Bashir Umar. The report indicated that the attack occurred earlier that day at about 8:00 a.m.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained fatal stab wounds to the left side of his chest and back,” Abdullahi stated. “He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.”
Describing the attack as “senseless and unwarranted,” the police said an intelligence-led investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
The command urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
