Residents of the waterside area of Okpulo Umuobo in Aba, Abia State, rescued an unidentified woman from an attempted suicide at a river on Tuesday.
The woman, whose reasons for the act remain unknown, was found lying silently on a pavement by the riverbank, refusing to speak.
The incident drew a crowd of onlookers to the scene, with some speculating that economic hardship or relationship issues might have driven her to the attempt.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, told NEWS BULLETIN that Enyimba FM alerted the nearest police station, which facilitated her rescue.
