The Kwara State Police Command and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have pledged to strengthen their collaboration in combating kidnapping and other criminal activities threatening the state’s peace.
This renewed commitment was affirmed during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed State Police Commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Ilorin, where he met with the State Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed.
Commandant Mohammed described the visit as both timely and strategic, highlighting the need for security agencies to unite against increasingly sophisticated threats. He expressed concerns over the rising cases of kidnapping in Kwara, stressing that isolated efforts would no longer suffice.
“No single agency can handle the current security challenges alone. We must form a united front, share intelligence, and implement joint strategies to restore peace and stability across the state,” he said.
Commissioner Ojo, in his remarks, praised the NSCDC for its proactive measures and assured the Police Command’s readiness to work closely with the Civil Defence Corps. He emphasized the importance of synergy between security agencies and the elimination of inter-agency rivalries, particularly at junior levels, to build a culture of cooperation and mutual respect.
The visit, according to a statement by NSCDC spokesperson Ayoola Michael Shola, marks a step towards deeper collaboration aimed at enhancing security across Kwara State.
