“Crucial, Reflects Mallam Abdulrazaq-Led Administration To Improve Healthcare Delivery Across The State PHCs” – Ogbeni Adato Lauds
The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, on Thursday chaired the first quarterly review meeting of the State Task Force on Immunization and Primary Health Care (STFI & PHC), reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening health systems across the state.
The high-level meeting, held at the Conference Room of the Deputy Governor’s Office in Ilorin, brought together key government officials, traditional rulers, and development partners to assess progress on immunization and primary health care delivery in Kwara State.
The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of the Task Force in driving the implementation of policies designed to boost immunization coverage and ensure efficient service delivery at the Basic Primary Health Centres (BPHCs).
He reiterated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to fulfilling the state’s obligations under the 2009 Abuja Commitments to Polio Eradication in Nigeria.
In attendance was Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi Adato, member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, who described the meeting as “crucial” to improving healthcare outcomes and praised the inclusiveness of the process.
Adato added that the meeting, which was his first quarterly review meeting of the STFI & PHC, reflects the bold commitment of the Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s led administration to improving health care service delivery across the state Primary Healthcare Centres and the subnational obligations stipulated in the 2009 Abuja Commitments to Polio Eradication in Nigeria.
Other notable participants included the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuhu; Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju; Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Mariam Nna Fatimah Imam, PhD; and the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Prof. Nusirat Elelu.
Also present were the Emir of Shonga, HRH Dr. Haliru Yahaya; the State Coordinator of the World Health Organization; and other representatives of development partners. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, was unavoidably absent due to official duties outside the state.
The quarterly review mechanism is a key part of the AbdulRazaq administration’s broader strategy to enhance primary healthcare access, improve immunization indices, and strengthen stakeholder accountability in the sector.
