In commemoration of World Malaria Day 2025, the Betso Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) and Maiden Healthcare, organized a health outreach program targeting vulnerable groups in the Lakare and Kilbaji communities of Wuro Jabbe, Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The outreach, which focused on pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under the age of five, was held at Ray of Sunshine Academy and the Adult Literacy School in Kilbaji.
The event featured health education, medical consultations, malaria testing, and the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs).
A highlight of the day was a health lecture delivered by a facilitator from Maiden Healthcare, titled “Causes, Effects, and Treatment of Malaria.”
The lecture aimed to raise awareness about malaria prevention and early treatment, particularly among at-risk groups.
Following the health talk, beneficiaries received free medical consultations and underwent malaria testing. Those who tested positive were administered appropriate medication on the spot.
All attendees also received ITNs to help curb the spread of the disease within their communities.
Representatives of the Betso Charity Foundation who participated in the outreach include the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Halima Bakari; Executive Director, Adamu Muhammad; and team members Mr. Mustapha, Mr. Abbas, Favour, Muibat, Anna, Gift, and Oluwabunmi. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution of the program and personalized attention to the needs of each beneficiary.
A grateful beneficiary praised the initiative, highlighting the positive impact such interventions have on rural health.
