A Nigerian lady has shared the emotional story of how she spent her entire National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) allowance—along with a portion of her salary—on her dream of pursuing a master’s degree in the United States, only to face rejection when her visa application was denied.
In a post shared on social media, the young woman revealed she was so committed to her academic ambition that she never spent her monthly NYSC stipends throughout her service year. To bolster her savings, she contributed ₦200 from her salary each month, eventually accumulating ₦20,000.
The funds were used to cover various application-related expenses, including processing fees, transcripts, and other administrative costs tied to her graduate school plans.
“Every single dime was wasted,” she wrote. “I cried ehn.”
