Suspected Herdsmen Kill Chief on Farmland In Ogun State

Suspected herdsmen launched a deadly raid on the Ikobi-Ochekwu community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State late Wednesday night, killing multiple residents, including a newlywed soldier.

Sources say the attack, which began under the cover of darkness, lasted for several hours as gunmen shot indiscriminately and set homes on fire.

A resident, identified as Ochofie, told our correspondent that the attackers stormed the village without warning, unleashing chaos and destruction.

The exact death toll remains uncertain, as several residents are still unaccounted for.

“In the early hours of Thursday, two more bodies were found in nearby Ijaha. They were identified as Sani Ngbede and Aduba Paul Ogboyi,” a local source disclosed.

While the identity of the slain soldier has not been officially released, community members say he recently got married. Authorities are yet to confirm the identities of the other victims.
