The search for Osemudiamen Idemudia, a 26-year-old banker who went missing in Lagos, ended in tragedy as his body was discovered in a morgue in the Yaba area of the state.

Idemudia, who worked in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in Ikota, was last seen on May 9 near CMS on Lagos Island. His disappearance prompted a frantic search by family and friends across hospitals and mortuaries in Lagos.

Confirming the development, a relative identified simply as Segun said the family located his body on Sunday, days after he was declared missing.

“We found Osemudiamen’s body in a morgue in Yaba. He was murdered. There were machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. It’s heartbreaking,” Segun said.

The injuries suggest he was violently attacked before his death. According to Segun, morgue attendants claimed the body had been deposited by police officers. However, efforts to obtain further details have so far been futile.

“The morgue staff said police brought the body, but when we asked for details—like where it was found or who brought it—they couldn’t say. They didn’t have information on the officers involved, which makes the situation even more disturbing,” he added.

The circumstances surrounding Idemudia’s death remain unclear, and authorities have yet to release an official statement.

The young banker was laid to rest by his family on Tuesday.
