
Nigerian broadcaster George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, has completed an ambitious Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Talk Show on Radio, clocking an impressive 105 hours and eight seconds.
The record-setting broadcast concluded at exactly 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Comfort 95.1FM in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This surpasses the previous record of 88 hours held by Taishi Masuoka of Matsubara, Japan.
Mighty George, who was named Nigeria’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2023, launched the talk show marathon at midnight on Sunday, April 27, 2025. As he reached the 105-hour milestone, the station premises erupted in jubilation, with invited guests and supporters celebrating the historic moment. The achievement also sparked a wave of excitement across social media, where fans and well-wishers showered him with congratulatory messages.
Over the course of the broadcast, George hosted more than 100 guests, including notable figures such as Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno. The feat is now pending official verification from Guinness World Records.
